I know this to be true from the bottom of my heart. It is through witnessing each other that we recognize the true nature of interdependence, and find the strength to persevere though the darkest of times.
Sometimes we witness painful events on television – or a friend tells us about a friend who is suffering – what do we do then? We start by witnessing our own reaction, and then widening out the circle of compassion to embrace all beings who suffer. Which ultimately, is all beings.
